Students of the Ebonyi State University have reported the tragic scenario which occurred at the University as some students lost consciousness while writing their General Studies (GST) examination.

A student of the institution, @olivedynamite, who posted the incident on Twitter, explained that students were packed together in the examination hall, which was not conducive and many students were unconscious.

@olivedynamite disclosed that almost 8 students lost their consciousness, while 3 were announced dead.

However, another student who spoke with our correspondent debunked the report, noting that no one died.

The student said, “the incident took place at ‘permsite’ where the GST exam was to take place. Some students fainted due to the stress while no one is declared dead.

While asking her if she had experienced such before as a student of the institution, she said ‘No’.

“No! It hasn’t, the wave of heat is high in Ebonyi right now, and most students are actually not well prepared for the exams due to the long holiday we had, I guess.

“Heat, unpreparedness and exam questions, could make a student faint,” she stated.

Abanni Samson, the President of the Students Union Government tweeted that, “What happened today showed poor planning. It’s regrettable. I am happy that we lost no one. The SUG is doing everything to prevent a repeat of this. Let every stat calm, this will end well.”
